Samuel B. Ledwitz J.D., LL.M, the President and Managing Partner of Bezaire, Ledwitz and Associates has a long history with Temple City. All the way from childhood to the present day.
During his childhood, Mr. Ledwitz marched in the Camellia festival three times. In 1980, he proudly marched down Las Tunas in his cub scout uniform as a member of the local pack. In 1984, as a member of the Oak Avenue Marching Band, he skillfully played his trumpet along the parade route. This most memorable walk down the center of the city was as part of the ensemble for the musical “Guys and Dolls” to help promote the Temple City High School art department.
Mr. Ledwitz also participated in years of AYSO soccer at Live Oak Park and attained his black belt at Ed Hamile’s Shotokan Karate School on Las Tunas Boulevard.
After attending Pepperdine law school, Mr. Ledwitz came back to the Temple City Unified School District in 1998 as a substitute school teacher (he was waiting for his Post Doctorate studies to start at the University of Miami in late 1999). Mr. Ledwitz made appearances at all the schools: Emperor, Cloverly, Longden, La Rosa, Oak Avenue, Temple City High School and what is now called the Doug Sears Learning Center. He taught classes that ranged from Special Education all the way to Calculus class and night school.
Over the years Mr. Ledwitz has given back to the community by sponsoring the 75th Annual Camellia Festival, Emperor Elementary School, The Doug Sears Learning Center, and the Temple City High School Musical performance of “The Little` Mermaid”.
As an attorney, Mr. Ledwitz has helped numerous city residents with their estate planning (wills and trusts), estate administration (what happens after a loved one dies) and Probate.

Estate Planning For Your Children – It’s Not Just About The Money
Most people near the age of majority do not have large estates (money or property) and many families assume that this means an estate plan is completely unnecessary. This is simply not true. A comprehensive estate plan does much more than protecting property from probate and directing the disposition of assets—estate plans also tell medical and financial institutions who is authorized to make decisions on your behalf. Without current, effective documents, these institutions may refuse to release medical information and will likely not allow family members to make healthcare decisions.
DOMA and Estate Planning
Recently the United States Supreme Court ruled on United States vs. Windsor—a case that argued the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). DOMA’s Section 3 controversially defined a “marriage,” for federal tax law and benefits, as only between one man...
